Comments : I've known Mr Hamlin for a while and he's always had a passion for the martial arts. He knows his craft but not only that he understands much of the theory and "science" of it. He does not just go through the motions and just hand out belts like other schools do. He is honestly interested in making sure you learn self-defense. He doesn't give the sales pitch that most schools do either.

Comments : Ever since our daughter has taken martial arts at Folsom Karate Academy, she is happier and lifts her head higher with confidence! She is doing great at school and looks forward to going to FKA to see her martial arts family. She always comes out with a smile on her face. This Folsom family owned martial arts studio is "Folsom's Best Kept Secret"! Great value for your money and no sales pitch, just great instructors.
Our daughter started three years ago when she was 4 years old and she absolutely loves it! It is more than a martial arts school. She has more self-confidence and excellent focus at school (great grades too!). We highly recommended it to all families that do NOT want the sales pitches you get from the big chains and just want excellent quality instruction where the kids learn more than just martial arts! Check them out - well worth it!

Comments : Our family has been involved with Mr. Hamlin's school now for over 2 1/2 years. We continue to recommend this karate school over others due to the personal committment and energy given by Mr. Hamlin to the kids. He consistantly strives to meet each child where they are in a way that exudes humor and respect at the same time. Mr. Hamlin provides routine, structure and discipline in a way that makes children feel like they are having fun while learning form, self-defense and the art of karate. Our family STRONGLY recommends anyone interested in martial arts to try this karate school first.

Comments : Mr. Hamlin offers an excellent mixture of various martial art styles that provides a practical, real world self defense style. His focus on the "art" establishes discipline within the children. But his style doesn't ignore the "martial" portion of the equation. I know for a fact that when my child finishes this process, he will be more than capable of protecting himself. In the end, what is the purpose of taking a self defense class if all it provides you is a series of systematic motions that have no practical value?
